My first sold painting
Blogging has been on the back burner lately, although I still read all my favorites each day. We had Thanksgiving in Florida and walked in our neighborhoods local Thanksgiving day parade. What fun that was. Followed by dinner for 22 at a neighbors, it was a wonderful day with our American friends. Home to snow and cold winds, but Girl Child is living at home for 3 weeks before her move West, and with Girl Child come Henry Francis....a sweet bundle of cuteness and bulldog oddness to brighten our days.

Sadly, our half blind, deaf, boy Balto got attacked by a German Shepherd Monday night. He was pretty badly beaten up, puncture wounds in his neck and severe neck bruising, but he survived. He's extremely sore and we have him doped up a bit for pain relief. Henry Francis has been sweetly concerned about him.

I've joined a painting group. 5 of us amateur artists meet once each week to paint, chat and eat biscuits. My "painted Ladies" suggested I post my paintings and put a price on them, so I did, and I sold the one in the top photo. I had lots of people ask and I've never been able to tell them a price because of self doubt, shyness and just not knowing their value. So that was pleasing to me.

I've been helping Girl Child sell off and get rid of some stuff. Clothes were sorted and sent to consignment where they bought the lot. Instagram postings of other bits to flog was a huge success, including this stool below which she could have sold 10 times...maybe Henry Francis posing on it made it more desirable.

Our dear Henry Francis. Modelling on a step stool we sold.

Another painting....getting braver showing my work

  1. Poor little Balto! Who could bite him?

  2. danke für die wunderschönen inspirationen, liebe grüße von angie und einen schönen freitag!!!

  3. I love your paintings. Someday I will be settled and ready to buy one for wherever I will be living . Poor poor Balto ! I am so sad to read this ... I hope you threatened and maybe even beat up the owner ? :) well, I know you didn't beat them up but I hope they were sufficiently threatened.. what if it had been a child and not Balto ?
I am looking out the window at many inches of fresh snow. It is time to change things .. sigh ... I don't know if I have the energy :)

  4. oh the paintings are wonderful!
poor poor Balto..I am outraged that a pet owner would allow their dog to run free and get to yours if they are biters.

I know girl child moving is hard but oh how excited she must be, so we must be happy for her and yes I would have wanted that stool also! lol

So much excitement in your days- so happy for you
    Merry Merry my dear <3

  5. I do like your paintings, Chania; they have the assurance of someone who doesn't need to try too hard.

  6. OH I love your paintings too. What size are they?

  7. I love these paintings Chania. They are gorgeous. I can see why the one above sold! Good for you for putting them out there. (It's sometimes like walking naked down the street to put our creations out there).

  8. I am glad to see you posting. I love your paintings. Glad you are having fun and the painted ladies group sounds fun. Hope Balto gets feeling better.

  9. Chania - I had to drop in and say hello...and thank you for leaving such a thoughtful comment on my blog. You should pop back and another reader has commented in relation to what you said. It's funny, often I think of you - because of the St Pete's connection and because once you sent me some beautiful items from your shop! I think I was lucky enough to win a giveaway contest! But also you have aways given me such sage advice and it's nice to know you're still reading along (as am I!). Take care, Lou x

  10. Oh Chania, Balto being attacked jjust sickens me. Poor doggie! I hope he heals and isn't suffering too much. Your paintings are phenonemal. So fiull of color amd pizazz amd a little razmataz! As always, it's a thrill to read your posts. Happy Holidays.

  16. Nice painting (just nipping over from John's "Going Gently" to look around)

  17. I found myself thinking about you several days ago ~ wondering how your dual residency was going and if you had done additional work on the St. Pete house. Have to say your paintings are scrumptious!

My son and I spent January on the Atlantic in Cocoa Beach ... ahhh, we did not want to leave. Though here in Bend Oregon winter seems to have passed us by. Take care, keep painting!
